OUR VALUES

We're a community of followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, with the desire to authentically live our faith reflecting God’s love through our lives. We understand that we haven’t always got it all together, but we realize that part of our journey is to encourage and help each other grow in our relationships with Jesus.

WE VALUE THE BIBLE

The Bible is God’s Word. Within it is found the great wisdom, counsel and teaching we need as followers of Jesus and as a faith community.

WE VALUE THE CHURCH

We recognise that the church is not a building but a community of God’s people. We believe that each person has an important part to play in the life of the church whānau and that together we are to encourage one another to become more and more like Jesus.

WE VALUE THE WIDER COMMUNITY

We know we live in a broken world. Many people long to find healing, purpose and significance for their lives. Many struggle in different ways and needs for support in our community can be quite diverse. Recognising we won’t be able to meet all the needs, it is our desire and intention to try to help whenever we can, alongside other churches and community groups in Belmont, Bayswater and Devonport.

WE VALUE MISSION

Jesus really is the hope of the world! Globally and locally we are committed to building relationships with others so that we all might learn, receive, give, teach and be transformed by the good news of Jesus.

WE VALUE BEING BAPTIST

Baptists believe that the church is a community of disciples who Jesus gathers together to live in committed relationship with God and each other. We seek to grow closer to Jesus together, to discern his will together, to learn and apply his Word together, and be committed to his mission together. In the same way, Belmont Baptist seeks to do the same in relationship with the wider Baptist whānau.

Hi, I’m Andrew. I am married to the wonderful Andrea, and together we have two amazing children, Liam and Mahlia. I grew up in Dargaville and Whangarei, and have deep family roots within the NZ Baptist movement on both sides of my parents’ families. I love being a Baptist! I hold a Bachelor of Applied Theology from Carey Baptist College and I am a registered Baptist leader.

Above all, I seek to be committed to God, my family, the (local and global) church, our community, mission and Liverpool Football Club (but please don’t talk to me about the latest game on a Sunday morning – I probably won’t get to watch it until sometime Sunday afternoon!)
